Annapolis Police arrest prolific burglar

Screenshot 2015-07-30 18.31.35On Wednesday, July 29th at 3:56 a.m. officers responded to the 300 block of Forbes Street for a report of a theft from vehicle that just occurred.  Sheldon Tubaya, 61, of Annapolis was arrested and charged with thefts from several vehicles.

An adult male victim called the police to report that his vehicle had been entered and his Apple iPad stolen.  The man tracked the current location of the iPad and gave this information to the police.  Officers arrived and did not locate the suspect right away, but a police K-9 and handler located Tubaya hiding in the woods in the unit block of Tucker Street.  The stolen iPad and other property from several thefts from vehicles were found in a backpack with Tubaya.  

Three other vehicles in the area were entered and money and a Garmin GPS unit were stolen.  The GPS unit was also found in Tubaya’s backpack.  Tubaya was also charged with theft of wedding band and engagement ring from a vehicle in the 100 block of Green Street that occurred between July 25th and July 26th.  Tubaya was charged with three counts of theft, three counts of rogue and vagabond, three counts of fourth degree burglary, possession of burglary tools, and possession of CDS paraphernalia.  He is being held at the Jennifer Road Detention Center on $10,000 bond.  Tubaya has been arrested at least twelve times in the past ten years and charged with theft or rogue and vagabond in at least ten of those cases.

Numerous other vehicles on Forbes Street and Tucker Street appeared to have been entered, but their owner’s could not be contacted at the time.  Detectives are still trying to identify the owner’s of property recovered from Tubaya.  If you have information please contact Detective Jon-Paul Hipsky at 410-260-3439 or [email protected].
