Woman murdered in Severn home

The victim, identified as Karlyn Serane Ramirez, a twenty-four year old female from the 8000 block of Millstone Court, was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner located in Baltimore Maryland for an autopsy. The autopsy revealed Mrs. Ramirez cause of death was gunshot wounds with the manner being homicide.

Detectives are still examining recovered evidence as well as interviewing several witnesses. As this is a very fluid and active investigation the Anne Arundel County Police are urging anyone with information to come forward by calling Homicide Detective Jason McNemar at 410-222-4756. On August 25, 2015, at approximately 7:57 a.m., officers from the Western District responded to a residence in the 8000 block of Millstone Court in Severn for a report of an unsecure residence.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with a citizen, who reported following a stray dog that ultimately entered into a residence that was not secured. The citizen attempted to call for anyone who may have been in the home, but received no response. At that time, the citizen called police to investigate the situation. Arriving officers entered the residence and located an adult female deceased inside from apparent upper body trauma. In addition, an infant was located inside of the home unharmed. The child was transported to an area hospital for precautionary measures. Homicide detectives responded to the scene and assumed responsibility for the investigation, which is active and ongoing. Evidence is being collected and numerous interviews conducted. The body has been transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy to be performed to determine the final cause and manner of death. Detectives are investigating this incident as a homicide.

The identity of the victim is not being released at this time as next of kin has not been notified. There is no suspect information. It is anticipated that no further information will be available until tomorrow, after an autopsy has been performed.
