AAMC offers free and low cost seminars ranging from diabetes, to drug use, to joint pain

Anne Arundel Medical CenterAnne Arundel Medical Center will be offering a number of free, and low cost, seminars dealing with a myriad of health issues this month.

Living Well with Diabetes

Classes meet Monday mornings from 9:30 am – 12 noon. July 13, 20, 27, August 3, 10, and 17.

Location: Anne Arundel Medical Center Belcher Pavilion, 2000 Medical Parkway, 7th Floor, Annapolis.

LIVING WELL with Diabetes, is a six-week workshop for people with type 1, type 2, and pre-diabetes. Participants will learn about complications that are associated with diabetes, as well as learn to manage their blood sugar and understand the relationship between food and blood-sugar levels. There will also be instructions on how to read nutrition labels, deal with stress, and how to improve communication with doctors. To register, call 410-222-4366.

The Stroke Club

3rd Tuesday of the month, 6pm

Location: Anne Arundel Medical Center Belcher Pavilion, 2000 Medical Parkway, 7th Floor, Annapolis.

Description: The Stroke Club is a monthly support group for stroke survivors, their families and caregivers. Meeting topics include stroke related education, such as stress management and medication management.  Topics will vary each month. Substance Use – Family Wellness Workshop

Full day Saturday Program: July 18
8:30 am to 4 pm

Weekend Program: Friday afternoon through Sunday afternoon:  Aug. 14-16
8:30 am to 4 pm

Meals provided Saturday and Sunday; Fee: $20/person or $30/two people (scholarships available)

The Pathways Family Wellness Workshop is a therapeutic and educational program for family members of adults or adolescents struggling with substance abuse. Through a combination of group therapy, learning sessions, and personal growth opportunities, participants will: Gain facts and understanding about addiction disease and substance abuse, as well as relapse prevention strategies. Hip and Knee Pain 101

Location: Anne Arundel Medical Center Belcher Pavilion, 2000 Medical Parkway, 7th Floor, Annapolis.

Free.

Taught by one of AAMC’s Joint Center program coordinators, participants learn the basics of arthritis and options to get relief from pain. During this small group session, participants have plenty of time to ask questions and learn more about their unique situation.
