Abundant Life Church

At Abundant Life Church in Glen Burnie, we believe that everyone has value, purpose, needs authentic relationships, should share their story, and should be sincerely accepted. We create three “shows” (worship services) every Sunday morning. They incorporate use of live video cameras, professional sound and lighting, live online streaming, and a live band. We are in need of video camera techs, lighting techs, sound engineers, computer program operators, video editors, photographers, online streaming monitors, etc. Most positions only require that one be generally tech savvy and trainable and available to serve on Sunday mornings. AA County Department of Aging Ombudsman Program

Volunteers are needed to visit long-term care facilities (nursing home and assisted living facilities) to assist in protecting residents’ rights and promoting their well-being.  Extensive training is provided. The Ombudsman Program is a Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) site.  Hours earned by volunteers 55 and over are counted among those contributed nationally through the National Center for Community Service. Creating Communities, Arts Mentorship Academy, Jun. 22-26, 2015

The nonprofit organization’s goal is to build life skills and self-esteem and foster connections across cultures. Creating Communities is seeking adult volunteers for the 2015 Creating Communities Arts Mentorship Academy from June 22-June 26, 2015 at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts. The Arts Mentorship Academy offers intensive arts instruction and mentorship to economically-disadvantaged yet talented public school students. Students receive dance, art, music, photography and drama instruction as well as t-shirts, artistic performances and meals. Volunteers assist teachers, serve as role models and mentors for the kids, provide additional adult supervision, pick up lunches, run errands, help keep the rooms tidy, and have a good time! JDRF, Greater Chesapeake & Potomac Chapter

This nonprofit is dedicated to improving the daily lives people with type 1 diabetes by progressively removing the impact of type 1 diabetes and its complications, and ultimately finding a cure, through the support of diabetes research.  Volunteers are needed for upcoming annual/special events and outreach.  In addition, office volunteers (14 years and older) are needed in the both the DC and Linthicum offices. Volunteers are also needed throughout the year for family outreach activities, and for fundraising events, which support JDRF. The James E. Lewis Museum of Art

The James E. Lewis Museum of Art on the campus of Morgan State University in the Murphy Fine Arts Center is currently seeking Volunteers for Docent and Volunteer training opportunities. Specifically, help is needed at the front desk, with organizing and maintaining collections, digitization of records, administrative or educational tasks, and outreach volunteers. The Light House of Annapolis

This emergency shelter facility provides shelter for single men and women and families and runs a transitional housing program in Annapolis. Volunteers, 18 and over, are needed for a variety of duties associated with the food program, children’s programs, facilities cleaning & maintenance, office and administration, and adult education programs. Pro bono professional volunteers are also needed serve the shelter and its clients with specialized skills such as accounting, medicine, law, and carpentry. The hours are flexible for many tasks and training is provided. In addition to volunteers, the shelter has an immediate need for pantry food items because of an increased demand for lunches during June–Sept. when schools are closed combined with a seasonal decline in donations. National Electronics Museum

The museum near BWI Airport serves students and the general public by collection, preservation and display of significant artifacts and literature and the commemoration of the creativity and dedication of pioneers and workers in the field of electronics. Volunteers, age 18 and up, are needed week days and weekends for education and outreach, for special events, as an administrative assistant, as collections assistants, and for visitor services. Old Mill Youth Association sponsors Old Mill Cheer! We are a non-profit youth sports organization formed in 2007. We serve the Old Mill area and all surrounding Communities. We are committed to the betterment of making youth sports a fun experience!
