Annapolis Symphony to play AACPL

Anne Arundel County Public Library

Anne Arundel County Public LibraryThe Anne Arundel County Public Library (AACPL) recently unveiled a new program slated to bring the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra (ASO) front and center into its 15 libraries.

The Annapolis Symphony Orchestra at Your Library program features a member of ASO performing an interactive, family-friendly concert at each library branch. The program will allow children and adults to learn about classical music in a fun, hands-on way.  Participants are encouraged to ask questions and learn about instruments while listening to classical music, concluding with a question and answer session.

“Libraries are more than just a collection of books but a community gathering place where residents of all ages can come together to enjoy educational and recreational opportunities,” said Library CEO Skip Auld. “By pairing with ASO, we are reminding Anne Arundel County residents that the county libraries are a place of exploration and growth for everyone. We are grateful for their partnership.”

“We’re so pleased to expose library patrons and the residents of Anne Arundel County to the joy of music,” said Karen Smith, Chair of the ASO Board of Trustees.  “The library system does so much for the community and this is yet another gift to our county.  What a great way to introduce the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra and promote classical music to people of all ages.”

The concert series kicked off late last month, but will continue at  Maryland City at Russett Community Library on June 10. Viola performances will be held at the Deale Community Library on June 10 and at the Glen Burnie Regional Library on June 17. Finally, customers will be able to enjoy a trumpet performance at the Brooklyn Park Community Library on June 10. Each performance starts at 6 p.m. and will last approximately 30-45 minutes.
