Bridwell outstanding in defeat

BaysoxParker Bridwell went a season-high eight innings in a complete game effort but the Baysox fell 2-0 in the series finale in New Britain Thursday night.

Bridwell allowed a two-out, broken bat RBI-single from Jeremy Barfield in the second inning to put the Rock Cats on top 1-0. In the fourth inning C Will Swanner hit a solo home run to right field, his seventh of the year, to right field off of a fastball away for the 2-0 advantage. Bridwell worked through eight innings for the first time this year in the third complete game for a Bowie pitcher in 2015.

The Baysox could get nothing going against Rock Cats as starter Matt Flemmer worked into the ninth inning. Bowie’s best opportunity was in the fifth inning. DH Rossmel Perez doubled down the right field line to leadoff the frame. A groundout moved Perez to third base but Flemmer danced out of the jam. He got a strikeout and a fly out to end the inning.

The Baysox popped out in the infield ten times in the game. Bowie registered just two hits. Rock Cats reliever Austin House got the final out of the game for his league leading 19th save of the season. The Baysox now head back home for their longest homestand of the year. Bowie will play eight games in the next eight days at Prince George’s Stadium.

The Baysox return home for a season-long eight-game homestand beginning Friday, June 19th against the Trenton Thunder at 6:35 p.m. It is Fort Meade Night with Fireworks following the game presented by USAA. Get tickets now online at baysox.com.
