It’ll be raining candy at the Baysox this Sunday

monumentalThe Bowie Baysox announce today that the team will be hosting the second annual Helicopter Candy Drop following the 2:05 p.m. game Sunday, June 14 at P.G. Stadium against the Portland Sea Dogs. At the conclusion of Sunday’s game, all kids ages 12 and under in attendance will be invited to participate in a candy drop in the outfield. A helicopter will drop thousands of pieces of candy onto the field for kids to collect.

Baysox Marketing Director Brandan Kaiser is looking forward to this day. “This event was such a huge success last year and we are happy to be able to bring it back for fans to experience in 2015,” Kaiser said. “Watching a helicopter hover over the stadium and pour thousands of pieces of candy into the outfield and then watching all the kids run to collect them is pretty cool.”

The helicopter, provided by Monumental Helicopters, will take flight after the conclusion of the game and after all participating kids have made their way onto the warning track surrounding the outfield at Prince George’s Stadium (weather permitting). Included in the thousands of pieces of candy that will be dropped during the event are: Skittles, Starburst, Twizzlers, Nerds, Dum Dums, SweeTARTS, Tootsie Rolls, Double Bubble and more!

Sunday is also Louie’s Birthday Bash and the Baysox will be celebrating with free cake for all kids ages 12 and under (while supplies last). Many of Louie’s mascot pals will be in attendance to celebrate the big day and any fans who bring a new, unwrapped toy for Louie Holiday Hope Toy Drive will be entered into a raffle to win Baysox prizes.
