International outdoor painting competition heats up tonight

Artist Karen ScannellPaint Annapolis, an international painting competition and exhibition hosted by the Maryland Federation of Art begins on Monday, June 8.

29 artists from 12 states, Canada, and Wexford, Ireland (a sister city of Annapolis) will paint throughout Anne Arundel County and Annapolis from Tuesday June 9 through Friday June 12.

A Nocturne (painting after dark) in the Historic District will take place on the evening of Tuesday June 9.

Dueling Brushes (a 3-hour quick draw) will take place Sunday June 14 from 8-11am. This event will involve the juried artists, members of the public, and local students.

The Paint Annapolis competition is followed by two exhibitions from June 14-21: paintings by the juried artists will display at Circle Gallery (18 State Circle) and artwork from Dueling Brushes will display at the Annapolis Maritime Museum (723 Second Street).
