Annapolis Leukemia Cup on tap

Leukemia CupThe Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Maryland Chapter announced partnership between Annapolis Green, Sailors for the Sea and EYC Foundation to facilitate the Green initiative for the Leukemia Cup Regatta and After Party. Sailors will receive education on clean sailing practices and Annapolis Green will facilitate education, recycling and composting at the “Rock the Dock for a Cure” after race party.

The competition is heating up both on and off the water for the Leukemia Cup. The On the Water Regatta is on May 30th, 2015 and offers racing and cruising at its best for a variety of classes of boats — Multihulls, Cal 25, Alerion, Harbor 20, J/22, J/24, J/70, J/30, J/35, J/105, PHRF and Cruising class (and is open other classes). To date, 64 boats have registered. LLS has extended the date to qualify to get boat name on official event T-Shirt to Friday, May 15th. By forming fundraising TEAMS in the “Off the Water” Fundraising Face, sailors have an opportunity to help fund research for blood cancer cures through friendly competition. To date, 28 active teams and individuals in the “Off the Water” Race have raised almost $50,000 for the mission of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The goal for the “Off the Water” Fundraising Race is to raise $100,000.

Funds raised by the Annapolis Leukemia Cup Regatta will benefit Maryland patients and will be used for research, patient aid and education and improve the quality of life for patients and their families. The Leukemia Cup Regattas have raised over $50 million dollars since its inception in Annapolis in 1993!

The Leukemia Cup weekend is 2 weeks away! The festivities are kicked off by the Summer Gala and Auction, themed “Seersucker & Linen” at AYC on Friday May 29th from 6:30-9:30 pm. Tickets are $95 must be purchased in advance. Tickets are selling fast so get yours today! The Official Summer Gala After Party for Gala guests will be held at Iron Rooster at 9:30 pm.

The Regatta begins off the shores of EYC at 10 am on Saturday May 30th. In addition to the Regatta on Saturday, a “J80 Luncheon & Fun Race”, which recognizes survivors and patients in the local community will be held at noon (by invitation only). with the Rock The Dock for a Cure Party and BBQ (awards announced) on Saturday after the Regatta. Enjoy live music by Swamp Donkey NewGrass, BBQ by Grills on Wheels and enjoy some adult beverages. General Admission tickets are $20 (includes dinner) and VIP (includes dinner and all you can drink) are $50.
