Rising stars of the Londontowne Symphony Orchestra to perform this weekend

Anna BinnewegThree young Maryland musicians will make their debuts with the Londontowne Symphony Orchestra (LSO) on Sunday, April 19 during the LSO’s Rising Stars concert.

The young musicians won the chance to perform with the orchestra during the LSO’s second annual Young Artist Competition last fall. Each of the winners will perform one movement from a concerto.

The concert will begin with a performance of Dvořák’s Czech Suite in D Major, Op. 39, and continue with:

  • Jason Hong, who won in the Brass/Winds/Percussion category, will perform the third movement of Carl Maria von Weber’s Clarinet Concerto No. 2 in E flat, Op. 74.
  • Raymond Lin, who won in the Strings category, will be featured in the first movement of Antonín Dvořák’s Cello Concerto in B Minor, Op. 104.
  • Joseph Weng, who took first place in the Piano competition, will perform George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue.

This concert is family-friendly and appropriate for all ages. Tickets may be purchased over the phone at 410-562-8920, online at lso-music.org/tickets, or at the door of the event. General admission is $15, senior tickets are $10 and student admission is free.
