Historic scavenger hunt for Maryland Day

MD Day Scav Hunt-2015 smallAnnapolis Mayor Michael Pantelides invites everyone to participate in a family-friendly Scavenger Hunt for History, kicking off on Friday, March 20. While the scavenger hunt is part of the Maryland Day Celebration activities, the hunt will continue through the Spring of 2015.

The City of Annapolis and MainStreets Annapolis Partnership is teaming up again this year with the Annapolis Historic Preservation Division to organize the scavenger hunt. Four Rivers: The Heritage Area of Annapolis, London Town and South County is a partner during and Maryland Day Celebration Weekend of March 19th to the 22nd.

“I hope residents will take advantage of this unique opportunity to learn more about the history of our buildings, products, and occupations,” Mayor Pantelides said. “Make it a family activity and spend time together as you enjoy figuring out the clues and learning more about your hometown.”

The scavenger hunt includes 24 stops with historical significance in downtown Annapolis.  Follow the map and clues to solve the riddles that take you to local restaurants, art galleries, museums, and merchants. The Scavenger Hunt for History will have you travel along West Street, Church Circle, Main Street, State Circle, and Maryland Avenue. At each stop you can go inside the building to learn more about the current business and their Maryland made products. As part of the scavenger hunt, participating stores will be open until 8 p.m. on Friday, March 20, 27 and April 3 and special prize clues can be found under #annapolisscavengerhuntforhistory.
