Chesapeake Life Center counselors write book on supporting children after suicide loss

image003-3Two counselors of the Chesapeake Life Center have written a book titled “Supporting Children After a Suicide Loss: A Guide for Parents and Caregivers.”  Authors Sarah Montgomery, Coordinator of Children and Family Programs and Susan Coale, Clinical Specialist in Bereavement, are both licensed clinical social workers at the Chesapeake Life Center who collaborated on the book, now available at Amazon.com.  The 30-page handbook is the result of decades of experience by the two highly skilled clinicians who have successfully counseled numerous individuals and families suffering from the loss of a loved one to suicide.

The book is designed as a resource for parents and caregivers who are guiding a child or teen through the traumatic experience of suicide loss. Schools and churches will also find this guide an invaluable resource when helping communities respond to unforeseen tragic events.  Grants from the Local Development Council of Anne Arundel County and the Unitarian Universalist Church of Annapolis are among the financial contributors.
