Broadneck High School presents “Kiss Me Kate” on Feb. 12-14

IMG_0856Students of Broadneck High School will present Cole Porter’s classic musical “Kiss Me Kate” from Feb. 12-14. Performances will be at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 12, Friday, Feb. 13, and Saturday, Feb. 14, as well as a matinee show on Saturday, Feb. 14 at 2 p.m.

The story centers around an egotistical actor and producer named Fred Graham, played by Broadneck junior Alexander McConkie and his ex-wife, Lili Vanessi, played by senior Marissa Roper, who are starring as Petruchio and Kate in a Baltimore production of Shakespeare’s “Taming of the Shrew.”  The cast includes over 50 students who will be singing and dancing in such classics as “Too Darn Hot” and “Another Opening, Another Show.”

“We wanted to expose our students to one of the great classics,” said Valerie Bennett, Choral Director at Broadneck High School. “Last year’s production of Les Miserables didn’t allow us to display the amazing dancing talents of our students. This show is full of music, dance, comedy, and fun. It’s much more upbeat than last year’s show.”

The show is directed by Emily Cory, with musical direction by Broadneck High School alum Andrew Lincoln, and choreographed by Vanessa Pearson.

Tickets are $13 for adults and $8 for seniors and students. Assigned reserved tickets can now be purchased online by going to www.showtix4u.com. A number of general admission tickets will also be available at the door. For more information about tickets, email [email protected].

Performances are held at Broadneck High School, 1265 Green Holly Drive, Annapolis, MD  21409.
