Glen Burnie High senior to host benefit concert this weekend for service project

teensjeansGlen Burnie High School Senior Tyler Johns has been collecting jeans for the past month, in support of Dosomething.org and Aèropostale’s Teens for Jeans Campaign. Teens for Jeans encourages young people across the country to run a jean drive in their school or community to help provide clothing for youth experiencing homelessness.

Over a million young people experience homelessness in the United States every year and one of the most requested items that young people in homeless shelters ask for is a pair of jeans. In the past seven years, young people across the country have collected over 4.3 million pairs of jeans through Teens for Jeans. This year, the top collecting high school, middle school, elementary school, and college will each win a $5,000 school grant. In addition to the school grant, the school that collects the most jeans will win a private school concert by pop band The Vamps and Aéropostale t-shirts for the entire school.

In order to reach Johns’ goal of 715 pairs of jeans, He has put together a benefit concert that will take place in Marley Station Mall’s Center Court, on Saturday February 7th from 1-3pm. The concert will feature State of The Art Lighting, Sound and Staging from Shooting Star Studios located in Brooklyn Park. Performances include, Local Musicians, as well as The Glen Burnie High School Dance Company. Admission to the concert, is simply one pair of jeans. Each Pair of jeans donated is rewarded with a coupon for new jeans at Aèropostale.
