Busy women have a bad habit of putting personal needs last, particularly when it comes to a properly fitting bra. However, a well-fitted bra is no indulgence. Bad bras can cause shoulder, neck and back pain as well as problems with posture and breathing.
Eight out of ten women are wearing the wrong size bra. Bra size can change over the course of a lifetime due to fluctuations in weight, pregnancies, aging and many other factors.
This month, local business á la mode intimates in the Annapolis Towne Centre is reaching out with a special offer to encourage women to assess their bra fit and make changes. These simple steps can help women feel better and look better:
1. Take á la mode intimates “How to tell if your bra is dead” quiz.
2. If you answer “true” to any of the questions, pack up that bad bra and bring it to á la mode in the Annapolis Towne Centre from now until January 31 and receive $5 off a new bra. Unusable bras will be sent to a materials recycling center.
3. Call (410.280.9771) before you come to set up a free bra fitting with any of á la mode’s certified fitters. Walk-in fittings are available, but they recommend making an appointment to ensure you don’t have to wait.
4. Before you leave the shop, pick up a free copy of “Your Guide to Breast Health,” a booklet by the National Women’s Health Resource Center.
á la mode intimates (1910 Towne Centre Blvd, #115, Annapolis) offers a wide range of bra sizes, from A to K cup and band sizes from 28 to 44. The certified fitters at á la mode also provide fittings for specialty items such as sports bras, maternity and nursing bras.
