Explore Barcelona, Madrid and Paris with AACC

barcelonaExperience world-famous architecture and design firsthand by visiting Paris, Barcelona and Madrid through a travel-study program offered this summer by Anne Arundel Community College. The deadline to register is Feb. 2.

The trip is scheduled May 18-30 and will be led by AACC Professor Michael D. Ryan, chair of the architecture and interior design department, and Associate Professor Robert R. Lowe III, who teaches architecture and design, both of whom have more than 15 years of combined experience leading student groups.

This 12-day travel-study starts in Paris, the City of Light, and explores notable historic sites including the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame Cathedral and the Louvre. Travel through the south of France to Barcelona, to experience Catalonian culture and famous works such as Gaudi’s Park Guell and the Segrada Familia. The trip concludes in the capital city of Spain, Madrid, visiting locations including the Prado and the Plaza de Oriente outside the Palacio Real.

The $3,950 per-person cost assumes double occupancy in the hotels and includes roundtrip airfare, hotel with breakfast, four group dinners, ground transportation and all scheduled tour admissions. Course tuition and fees are an additional cost. All participants sign up for the noncredit “Paris, Barcelona, and Madrid” (TRS 369). To earn three transferable college credits, participants may sign up for the optional credit course, “Paris by Design: Classic to Contemporary” (ACH 261). Professionals in the architecture/design field can receive 20 Learning Units for the noncredit course and an additional 55 general learning units for the credit course, both approved by the American Institute of Architects/CES.

Payment may be made in full online or in partial payments in person at the AACC cashier’s office, with the final payment due no later than Feb. 2. No refunds can be made after that date. Participants also must have a valid passport at least 60 days prior to departure.
