Annapolis authorities recover body from Chesapeake Bay

kovacsUPDATE:  The Annapolis Police Department has confirmed that the body pulled from the Chesapeake Bay was that of Barbara Kovacs.

On January 6, 2015 Annapolis Police officers with assistance from the Annapolis Fire Department and Anne Arundel Fire Department recovered a body from the water near 7101 Bay Front Drive.

On January 6th at 12:35 p.m. officers and a K-9 team from Search and Rescue Dogs of Maryland were searching the area surrounding 7101 Bay Front Drive for a missing woman when they discovered a body in the water.  The body was removed from the water and transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for further investigation.  The body was identified as Barbara Kovacs, 72, of Annapolis.  Ms. Kovacs was reported missing on January 5, 2015.  She was last seen on December 31st near her residence in the 7000 block of Bay Front Drive.

Police and firefighters are presently working to recover a body spotted in the waters off Bay Front Drive in Annapolis.  A 72 year old woman, Barbara Kovacs, a resident of Bay Front Drive, was reported as critically missing last night and had not been seen since December 31st.  Police could not confirm the identity of the body at this time.
