2 sailboats burn overnight at Whitehall marina

Early this morning, fire crews were dispatched to the 1600 block of Homewood Landing Road at the Whitehall Marina for a boat fire. Arriving crews found two sailboats well-involved in fire.  Queen Anne’s County was called for mutual aid and foam operations were used to extinguish the fire. Often when fuel might be involved, foam is a better method as it smothers the flames rather than cooling them with water which could potentially run into the Bay.

A cause and damage estimate are not yet available and more details will be forthcoming from the fire department later this morning.
