The local cycling team, Bike Like a Girl, is only the second 8-woman team in Race Across America history (RAAM), with the mission of raising money and awareness in support of empowering girls and women through cycling. The team begins the race on June 20, 2015 in Oceanside, CA and hopes to break the existing record and arrive at the finish in Annapolis, MD on June 27.
The team is supporting three organizations: World Bicycle Relief, the Women’s Cycling Association, and Bicycle Advocates for Annapolis & Anne Arundel County.
Katcef Brothers has partnered with Team Bike Like a Girl to hold a series of local events to support the team leading up to the race. The Kick Off Party will be held at Mother’s Peninsula Grille on December 1, 2014, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Raffle tickets will be sold for a chance to win one of two Felt Fat Tire Red Beach Cruiser bicycles donated by Katcef Brothers. There will be door prizes as well, along with support from local sponsors the Annapolis Triathlon Club and Bike Doctor.
