Annapolis woman arrested in auto arson

arsonOn November 25, 2014, at 07:27 AM, Annapolis Fire Department units were dispatched to the 1800 block of Bowman Court in Annapolis, for a reported “Vehicle Fire”. Upon arrival, units found a 2005 Nissan Maxima on fire in the parking lot. Initial responders requested the assistance of the Fire and Explosives Services Unit, to conduct a cause and origin investigation. The investigation determined that the fire was intentionally set and damage to the vehicle was estimated at $6,300.

On December 17, 2014, Investigators from the Annapolis Fire Department, Fire and Explosives Services Unit charged Tymeka Tyeia Stevens, 28, of Bowman Court with Arson, 2nd Degree. Stevens was taken before a District Court commissioner and was released on personal recognizance pending trial. If convicted, Stevens faces a maximum penalty of twenty (20) years in prison and/or $30,000 in fines. A trial date has not yet been set.
