On 12/3/2014 at approximately 4:00pm Traffic Safety officers were called to a report of a three vehicle fatal crash on Quarterfield Rd (MD-174) at Jonathan Ave in Glen Burnie.
Preliminary investigation revealed and various witnesses reported that a gold Ford Mustang was driving aggressively northbound on Quarterfield Rd when it crossed the centerline and struck a black Oldsmobile travelling southbound head-on. They were then both struck by a green Saturn sedan travelling behind the Oldsmobile.
The 50 year old driver of the Oldsmobile was found trapped in the vehicle and declared dead at the scene by medical personnel. He was taken by the Medical Examiner for autopsy. The 33year old driver of the Mustang was taken by Anne Arundel County paramedics to Shock Trauma in Baltimore with life threatening injuries. The 58 year old driver of the Saturn was taken by ambulance to Baltimore Washington Medical Center with minor injuries.
The cause of the crash appears to be excessive speed for the conditions and negligent driving by the driver of the Mustang. Traffic Safety is handling the investigation.
