8 arrested after melee at Arundel High School

school fightOn December 19, 2014, at approximately 10:30 a.m., officers responded to assist the School Resource Officer at Arundel High School, located at 1001 Annapolis Road, Gambrills, MD in reference to a large fight that had broken out. This fight occurred during “Wildcat Hour” near the school cafeteria.

It appears that 10 female students were involved in this altercation initially. Several other students congregated as a result. The school was placed on a temporary lockdown while police and school administrators controlled the situation.

A large contingency of officers responded for crowd control purposes and to ensure the safety of the students at the school. At no time were there any weapons involved in this incident.
All of the additional officers were there for precautionary reasons. There were no serious injuries as a result of this disturbance.

The following were arrested and charged on juvenile citations. They will be released to a parent or guardian.

S1- 14 y/o 9th grade female from Crofton
Charges- 2nd degree assault, disorderly, disrupting school operations

S2- 14 y/o 9th grade female from Odenton
Charges- 2nd degree assault, disorderly, disrupting school operations

S3- 14 y/o 9th grade female from Crofton
Charges- 2nd degree assault, disorderly, disrupting school operations

S4- 15 y/o 9th grade male from Odenton
Charges- disorderly, disrupting school operations

S5- 16 y/o 11th grade male from Odenton
Charges- disorderly, disrupting school operations

S6- 15 y/o 10th grade female from Gambrills
Charges- 2nd degree assault, disorderly, disrupting school operations

S7- 16 y/o 11th grade male form Odenton
Charges- Hindering, 3 counts of second degree assault, failure to obey a lawful order, disorderly, Disrupting school operations, and resisting arrest.

S8- 17 y/o 12th grade male from Odenton
Charges- Failure to obey a reasonable order, disorderly, disrupting school operations, second degree assault
