115th Army-Navy Game — LIVE BLOG

ArmyNavy_060Army and Navy will meet on the gridiron for the 115th time when the two square off on Saturday at M&T Bank Stadium (71,008) in Baltimore. Kickoff is set for 3:10 pm. The Army-Navy game is presented by USAA.

Navy enters the contest looking to defeat Army for a series-record 13th straight year. Prior to Navy’s historic run, the longest winning streak in the series, which was first played in 1890, was five games (by both teams).

Navy has outscored Army, 400-132, during its 12-game winning streak (average score of 33-11). The Mids have not only won 12 straight against the Black Knights, but have won 14 of the last 15 games and 15 of the last 17. Army’s only wins over the last 17 years came in 2001 (27- 16) and 1998 (34-30).

Navy head coach Ken Niumatalolo is trying to become the first coach in the history of the Army-Navy game to start his career 7-0 against the other service academy. He and former Navy and current Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson (2002-07) are the only coaches to start 6-0. Additionally, a win by Niumatalolo would make him the winningest coach in school history. He is currently tied for first alongside College Football Hall of Fame coach George Welsh with 55.

Unlike last year in Philly, the weather looks spectacular for football! Game updates will be posted here on the live blog (below the line) and more frequently on Twitter (@eyeonannapolis). There is no need to refresh your browser, most current entries will automatically post to the top.  Hashtag for today is  #ARMYNAVY or #ARMYNAVYGAME
