Schuh names Education Advisor

County Executive-elect Steve Schuh today announced his appointment of Amalie E. Brandenburg as Education Advisor to the County Executive.

“Amalie is someone who is passionate about the education of our students,” said Schuh. “On a daily basis, she demonstrates a commitment to improve our system that will serve our citizens well.”

In her role, Brandenburg will act as a liaison for the County Executive to the county community college, the library system, and the Board of Education. As liaison, she will work to coordinate and partner with all levels of the education system to better serve Anne Arundel County citizens.

“I’m honored to be selected by County Executive-elect Schuh to help ensure our education system serves our students,” said Brandenburg. “I’m looking forward to working with educators, administrators, and the leaders on the Board of Education to make our county the best place to educate in Maryland.”

Most recently, Brandenburg was a member of the Board of Education of Anne Arundel County and resigned that position earlier this week to “pursue other opportunities.” . Prior to staying home to raise her family, she was employed in the Industrial Air Conditioning and Water Treatment markets, where she held various positions.

Brandenburg is a graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park. She holds an undergraduate degree in engineering and a master’s degree in Business Administration.

Brandenburg and her husband, Brent, have four children, three of whom attend Benfield Elementary School. She is an active volunteer within the schools her children attend. She has served on the PTA at Benfield Elementary, as well as various committees both at the elementary and preschool level.

County Executive-elect Steve Schuh was elected Anne Arundel County Executive on Tuesday, November 4, and will be sworn into office on December 1.
