Hospice launches $15M fundraising campaign

Hospice SignHospice of the Chesapeake, a nonprofit headquartered in Pasadena, MD, has announced the Caring for Life campaign, a $15million fundraising effort to secure funding for three major areas:

  • A 14-bed Inpatient Care Center to be built at the Pasadena location starting this month and open in the fall of 2015. The state-of-the-art acute care facility will offer patients needing significant pain and symptom management an alternative to hospitalization.
  • The Belcher Institute, a network of regional and national partners collaborating on health care topics affecting those who are dealing with late stage illness. The Institute will lead positive and transformational change in the care and understanding of serious complex illness in our region.
  • Sustaining funds for Hospice of the Chesapeake’s future to assure continuity of compassionate care services for patients and their families.

The largest campaign in the organizations 35 year history, the Caring for Life campaign is co-chaired by Brian Gibbons, CEO of Greenberg Gibbons Commercial, Owings Mills, MD and Reverend James G. Kirk, retired Pastor, Glen Burnie, MD.  To date, $11 million has been secured toward the $15 million goal including notable generous gifts and grants from John & Cathy Belcher, Maryland State Board of Public Works, Greenberg Gibbons Commercial and Reliable Contracting, the Izzo Family Foundation, Jim and Linda Humphrey, Tech USA, Founder Thomas B. Howell, and Bill and Rose Lovelace.
