On Saturday, college football fans will be able to support lymphoma research and Houston Texan David Quessenberry’s fight against cancer during the Georgia Southern Vs. Navy game in Annapolis.
Look for the “10 for $10” campaign in the parking lot outside of Navy’s stadium, where people will be able to participate in a grassroots movement of 10 pushups with a $10 donation going towards the Lymphoma Research Foundation, the nation’s largest non-profit organization in the nation devoted exclusively to funding innovative lymphoma research.
The campaign was started by David’s Godfather Mark Guadagnini; David’s dad; his brothers Paul and Scott; and Coach Mac, David’s former San Jose State coach who is now with the University of Colorado. David’s brothers Paul Quessenberry (Navy) and Scott Quessenberry (UCLA), are asking people to “get down and GIVE 10”to benefit critical lymphoma research in a united show of support for David.

David’s dreams of playing in his first NFL game were abruptly put on hold this past summer when he was diagnosed with lymphoma. Unknown to many, lymphoma and other blood cancers disproportionately affect a large number of adolescents and young adults. We hope the David’s story and the “10 for 10 Campaign” will generate a much needed national discussion on lymphoma and its prevalence among young Americans:
- While lymphomas now represent about 5% of all new malignancies diagnosed in the United States, they account for 19% of all cancers in 15- to 29-year-olds.
- Every 7 minutes someone in the United States is diagnosed with lymphoma leading to over 80,000 new diagnoses each year.
