Eastport kicks Annapolis’ butt in tug-of-war…again!

Well, it looks like Eastport has regained the bragging rights for another year!  After 7 tugs, the Maritime Republic of Eastport ended up the victor 5-2.  The winning Annapolis teams were the USNA Midshipmem/Rugby Team with VICE ADMIRAL Carter, Superintendent of the Academy, and the Annapolis Police Department led by Chief Michael Pristoop.

Mayor Pantelides and Alderman Kirby took part in the last tug, The Annapolitans Vs the Eastportoricans and handily lost. Many speculate the loss in that match was that the Mayor and Alderman had improper footwear.

On the Annapolis side, there was plenty to cheer about outside of the tugs!  Red Red Wine Bar brought the booze and Stan & Joe’s and Iron Rooster brought the grub. Susan Campbell Park was turned into an outdoor boutique shopping mall with Maine Cottage, Whimsey Cove, Lilac Bijoux, Alpaca International, Severn Savings Bank, and others all set up around the perimeter.

In the end, while Annapolis lost the match, eleven local charities were the big winners. Proceeds from the tug benefitted Annapolis Green, Civil Air Patrol, The Bernie House, Eastport Elementary, Seeds 4 Success, Special Olympics Maryland, We Care and Friends, Annapolis Elementary, MainStreets Annapolis, Save the Coconuts, and Annapolis Community Boating!
