UPDATE: 4:37pm. Police are reporting that a fight broke out between two juveniles in the Westfield Annapolis mall about an hour ago which caused a panic on one of the busiest shopping days of the year. Police have not released any details at this point, but from an employee at the mall, someone put a “bottle bomb” in a trash can which caused a bang. A fight ensued from there. The bang was confirmed by two other patrons at the mall who did indeed say that it sounded like a gunshot. From there, things just snowballed. In the end, the fight was over and the brief lockdown was ended in less than 40 minutes.
UPDATE: 424pm. We are hearing from witnesses in the Westfield Annapolis mall that there were NO shots fired. There was a fight and there have been several arrests. Anne Arundel County Police Department has confirmed this.
