Anne Arundel County Executive candidate Steve Schuh was endorsed today by former County Executive O. James Lighthizer, Sr.

“This election goes beyond partisan issues,” said Lighthizer, a Democrat who served two terms as County Executive from 1982 to 1990. “I supported George Johnson in 2006 because I believed he was the best man for the job, and I support Steve Schuh now because he is the best man for the job. There is no question about it. Given Steve’s background in business and politics, he is uniquely qualified for the office of County Executive”

Lighthizer is best known for leaving office with a $50 million budget surplus and for building Quiet Waters Park in Annapolis. He is a former Secretary of Transportation under William Donald Schaefer and a former Maryland State Delegate.

“I am honored that another former County Executive has joined our endorsers,” Schuh said. “My plan to make Anne Arundel County a model for the State of Maryland goes beyond partisan differences. Together we can all work to create jobs, improve customer service and restore our environment.”
