In what could have been an epic re-match, the San Jose State Spartans just let the USNA Midshipmen run all over them in a 41-31 loss. Last year’s game was tight. They went into triple overtime and the Navy win secured a bowl spot for Navy.  Back in 2011, a missed field goal by Navy against San Jose State cost them a trip to a bowl.

Early on, it looked like a solid game with San Jose getting on the board first with a field goal, but then Navy’s offense kicked into high gear propelling quarterback Keenan Reynolds into the USNA record books.  With Navy’s first score, Reynolds surpassed Ricky Dobbs for total rushing touchdowns with 50 and extended it to 52 by the time the game was done.

San Jose State made an effort to tighten the score in the 4th quarter but ultimately fell short.  This will be the last time for this rivalry due to Navy’s changing of conferences.

Navy now sits at 4-4 in the season with 2 more wins needed to earn a spot in a Bowl Game.  And the remainder of the season could prove tough.  Next up is Notre Dame (6-1) on November 1st at Fedex Field. On November 15th, Navy takes on Georgia Southern (6-2) on November 15th at home. After that, South Alabama (5-2 with a 4 game winning streak) is played in Alabama the day after Thanksgiving. Finally the season wraps up with the Army-Navy Game at M&T Bank Stadium on December 13th.  Army (2-5) should be beatable, but with this rivalry, you never take anything for granted. Tickets for the Notre Dame, Georgia Southern and Army-Navy games are still available.
