After three losses in a row, Navy needed a win. Bad.  And they got it yesterday when they trounced the Virginia Military Institute Keydets by a score of 51-14. (Live Blog)

With an injured QB, Keenan Reynolds sidelined, it was up to Tago Smith to captain the ship. After a nervous start, Navy fumbled and it was recovered in the end zone for a VMI TD, they got back on track.

At the end of the 1st quarter, Navy led 14-0. At the half VMI had scored on the recovery, but Navy still led 37-7. They extended their lead to 44-7 by the end of the 3rd quarter. VMI was able to score their second touchdown with less than two minutes left in the game. The final score was 51-14.

Navy is going into a much needed bye week and will face the San Jose State Spartans on October 25th in Navy’s Homecoming game with a 1pm kickoff. The two last met last November with a slugfest that saw Navy ahead 58-52 in triple overtime.
