National Book Award winner to speak at St. John’s tonight

stjohnsDavid Ferry, winner of the 2012 National Book Award for Poetry, will present a reading and translation of his poetry at St. John’s College. The lecture, which is free and open to the public, will be held in the Francis Scott Key Auditorium on Friday, October 17 at 8 p.m.

Ferry if a professor emeritus at Wellesley College. He received his bachelor’s degree from Amherst College and his doctorate from Harvard University. A renowned translator of Virgil, Gilgamesh, and Horace, Ferry is a celebrated poet and the recipient of many awards for his original poetry.
