Annapolis-Bike-RobertsAnne Arundel County agencies and local nonprofit leaders are pleased to annouce inaugural Anne Arundel Lifeline 100 Century Ride and Making Health Happen Community Health Fair will be held simultaneously at Kinder Farm Park in Millersville on October 19. Both events are made possible through a special partnership between the Anne Arundel County Police Department, Anne Arundel County Department of Recreation & Parks, nonprofit Bicycle Advocates for Annapolis & Anne Arundel County (BikeAAA) and the Healthy Anne Arundel Coalition.

“Anne Arundel County is proud to host the first-of-its-kind Lifeline 100 Century Ride to highlight the health, environmental and economic benefits of safe bicycling in our county,” said County Executive Laura Neuman. “I would like to thank our Police Department, Department of Recreation & Parks and BikeAAA for their collaboration in making these events possible, and for their dedication to making Anne Arundel County a better place to live, work and play every day.”

The Anne Arundel County Lifeline 100 Century Ride has something to offer cyclists of all levels with 100, 56 and 15 (trail-only) mile route options that will depart from and conclude at Kinder Farm Park. Bike routes will wind throughout scenic parts of Anne Arundel County including downtown Annapolis, the Severn River, southern Anne Arundel County, Crofton, BWI/Marshall Airport and the B&A Trail. Additionally, a free Children’s Bike Rodeo and Family Fun Ride will be offered at Kinder Farm Park from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Jon Korin, founding president of BikeAAA (www.bikeaaa.org), a new all-volunteer 501c3 dedicated to promoting safe cycling for recreation and transportation, provided details about the event. The ride will offer food/drink rest stops for cyclists, and proceeds will be donated to county nonprofit organizations including the Crisis Response System, Recreation Deeds for Special Needs and BikeAAA.

The community is also invited to participate in a free “Make Health Happen Community Health Fair” at Kinder Farm Park from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. October 19 that will feature 17 representatives from the Healthy Anne Arundel Coalition, including local hospitals, health providers and public agencies. Additionally, the fair will offer fun activities for kids and families, health screenings and more.
