CBMM_BookSigning_October25_BookCoverOn Saturday, October 25 from 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m., travel writer Leslie Atkins will be at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum’s store to meet the public and sign copies of her latest book, Backroads & Byways of Chesapeake Bay. The event coincides with OysterFest at the museum’s waterfront campus in St. Michaels, Md.

Backroads & Byways of Chesapeake Bay includes photographs and maps of several Chesapeake Bay destinations, and provides itineraries based on a variety of interests. The book also includes recommendations for accommodations and restaurants.

Backroads and Byways of Chesapeake Bay is the shortest route a visitor can take to explore like a native,” said Atkins. “It’s also a perfect way for residents to delve deeper into the history and magic of their own region.”

Atkins began her career in journalism as a television writer for Oprah Winfrey and soon discovered a passion for travel and adventure writing. Also the author of Backroads and Byways of Maryland and No Strings Attached: The Savvy Guide to Solo Travel, Atkin’s work has appeared in the Washington Post, USA Today, the Baltimore Sun, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, and Baltimore Magazine, among many other publications.

CBMM’s OysterFest features live music on two stages, boat rides, retriever demonstrations, oysters and other local fare, an oyster stew competition and cooking demonstrations, along with children’s activities, oyster demonstrations, harvesting displays and Chesapeake-related documentary screenings.
