aaccAnne Arundel Community College has been named to the Military Friendly School® list for the sixth consecutive year by Victory Media, a media organization for military personnel transitioning into civilian life. The honor recognizes the top 20 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools in the country that are doing the most to help military service members, veterans and spouses succeed with their educational goals.

The Military Friendly Schools® website, http://militaryfriendly.com/school-list  includes the list and tools to help military students find the best school to suit their unique needs and preferences. Victory Media selected the colleges, universities and trade schools on this year’s list for exhibiting leading practices in the recruitment and retention of students with military experience, stating that these schools have world-class programs and policies for student support on campus, academic accreditation, credit policies, flexibility and other services to those who served.

One special feature at AACC is its Military and Veterans Resource Center http://www.aacc.edu/military/MiliVetCent.cfm where active, reserve and retired members of the military, veterans and their families can obtain additional information or resources about attending college, as well as gather informally. AACC also has an active Veterans Student Association where members encourage each other.

Academically, AACC is a participating member of Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges (SOC), a consortium of 1,550 colleges and universities dedicated to providing educational opportunities for service members and their families, GoArmyEd, the Air Force’s General Education Mobile (GEM) initiative, the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) and Military Spouse Career Advancement Accounts (MyCAA). The college offers a variety of services at the Fort Meade Army Education Center for soldiers and their families and accepts military credits for transfer into AACC programs.

Now in its sixth year, the 2015 list of Military Friendly Schools ® was compiled through extensive research and a data-driven survey of more than 10,000 schools nationwide approved for Veterans Administration tuition funding.
