Severn woman killed while crossing Odenton road

pedestrian accidentOn September 22, 2014 at approximately 2:01 p.m., the Anne Arundel County Police Traffic Safety Section responded to a vehicle collision with a pedestrian on Annapolis Road near Oakton Road.

Preliminary investigation revealed the pedestrian attempted to cross the northbound lanes of Annapolis Road where no pedestrian control devices exist and was struck by a vehicle traveling northbound.

Pedestrian error appears to be the main cause of this collision. Excessive speed and alcohol use are not factors in this collision. The investigation continues.

Driver:                       Ashley Elizabeth Shanahorn, 28, Fort Meade, MD

Injuries/Condition: Not injured

Pedestrian:                Tamika Bailey, 28, Severn, MD

Injuries/Condition: Fatal injuries
