Nominations sought for Dallas G. Pace Humanitarian Award

countysealThe deadline to submit nominations for the 2015 Dallas G. Pace Humanitarian Award, given each year in memory of the county’s first Human Relations Commission Chairman, has been extended through Friday, October 3.

“This award honors citizens who give back to their communities in the same spirit as Mr. Pace impacted our county,” said County Executive Laura Neuman. “We are fortunate to have so many members of our community who are dedicated to helping others by improving human relations, making Anne Arundel County an even better place to live, work and raise a family.”

Pace, who passed away in 1974, was a member of the national board of the Red Cross, the Annapolis NAACP and the Anne Arundel County PTA. The award given in his honor seeks to recognize the achievements of any individual who has made significant contributions to promoting human relations in Anne Arundel County. This year, nominations for outstanding youth candidates are encouraged.

Nominations will be considered based on actual accomplishment; demonstrated devotion and commitment to the community project or program; personal time expended; type of other resources used to achieve the goal; creativity and initiative; overall benefit to the community; and surpassed obstacles that led to achievement.

Nominations must be received on the official entry form by October 3, 2014. The recipient will be announced during the 34th-annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Breakfast in January 2015.
