Boy's choir photoThe Bratislava Boys’ Choir from the Republic of Slovakia will present a free concert at 7 p.m. Sept. 14 at the Frances Scott Key Auditorium at St. John’s College, 60 College Avenue, in Annapolis.

The ensemble includes 20 boys ages 10 through 14 years plus the tenors of eight older students.  Miriam Garajova, a member of the Slovak Opera, will be the soloist.

Their program will include Gregorian chants, Renaissance tunes, and arrangements of folk songs, religious music and contemporary selections. The choir, with a history of more than 60 years, has appeared in television films, motion pictures, and musicals.  They have recorded seven CDs. They can be heard frequently performing with the major groups in Slovakia, as the opera and symphony.  They have been invited to perform at prestigious venues throughout Europe and numerous other parts of the world.

Their appearance is presented by World Artists Experiences, an organization which bridges international understanding through citizen and cultural diplomacy using the arts as an international language, in partnership with the Embassy of the Republic of Slovakia and cooperation with St. John’s College. Though the concert is free, donations are requested.  For information, check the Web at www.worldartists.org or email [email protected].  Seating is on a first come first serve basis.
