On Tuesday,  the morning commute for many was a little off. Alex Cortright, the morning jock for WRNR 103.1 had broadcast his final show for the station on Monday.

As many listeners know, Eye On Annapolis has worked with Alex on Friday mornings for several years highlighting the weekend happenings in and around town–despite only being together for a few moments each week, we had a “groove” going. I called Alex yesterday to check in.

Alex is looking forward to some new ventures and opportunities–which I am sure will not be in short supply. I asked him if he had any regrets. And without sounding like a Frank Sinatra song…he had one. He regretted not being able able to say goodbye and to thank his listeners for sharing their mornings with him over the years.  He sent a tweet out early Monday afternoon, but it was a little mysterious and with only 140 characters, a little short!

So, right from the horse’s mouth to your computer, tablet, or phone….

The fifteen years I spent at the station were tremendous. In this time, I felt a great sense of connectedness to Annapolis and environs, and I am so grateful to have been a part of the daily lives of so many extraordinary people. Sharing my enthusiasm for music and ideas gave me a guiding sense of purpose and along with it, all of the wonderful satisfaction of a life lived in service to a community. It felt great. There are too many to thank. My colleagues. The artists. My guests. (A very large group of exceptional people, indeed.) But mostly, I’d like to thank my listeners for whom all of this was intended. Thank you.

And with that, I want to personally wish Alex all the best and to thank him for his insight, patience, and persistence as we shared our five minutes on Fridays. I look forward to hearing great things from Alex in the future, as should you! But in the meantime, you can catch up with him on RSVP With Alex or Right On Alex!
