Anne Arundel County welcomes 58 new firefighters

AACoFD Class 52Anne Arundel County Executive Laura Neuman and Fire Chief Michael E. Cox, Jr. proudly announce the graduation of Fire Department Recruit Class 52.

The graduates were part of a restructured Fire Academy which started on April 10th. The restructured academy allowed the Fire Department to realize a cost savings for Recruits who had received training prior to being hired. As a result, a group of ten (10) recruits completed their training in ten (10) weeks and were placed in the field. A second group of 48 completed training in 14 weeks and reported to the field followed by the last group of 11 completing their training this week.

“This innovative approach of taking advantage of our recruits’ prior training results in substantial cost savings for the citizens of our county and places highly needed personnel in our firehouses in a much shorter period of time than previous academy classes,” said Fire Chief Michael E. Cox, Jr.
