An early afternoon fire caused extensive damage to a home in Edgewater. Just after 1:30, Anne Arundel and Annapolis City firefighters were alerted to a dwelling fire in the 600 block of Hillmeade Road. The initial 911 caller advised that the dwelling was already 50% involved. Based on the report, Fire Alarm upgraded the call to a Working Fire Dispatch. Medic Engine 2 (Woodland Beach) arrived on location reporting a one story split foyer with fire in the attic and roof. The fire was brought under control in approximately 40 minutes with extensive overhaul required afterwards. The cause of the fire remains under investigation and damages are estimated in excess of $150,000. One firefighter sustained a minor injury.
