Deanna Bogart coming to Chesapeake Arts Center

deanna bogartThe Chesapeake Arts Center is thrilled to host the concert for an award winning artist, Deanna Bogart on September 19th 2014. The concert will be held in the Hammonds Lane theatre and tickets are available for purchase for $22.50-25.00 online at www.Chesapeakearts.org  or by calling the Chesapeake Arts Center Box Office at       P: 410-636-6597. Discounted Tickets will be available for the Military and CAC members. When it comes to Deanna Bogart, everyone wants to claim her as their own — her hometown, her fans, her fellow musicians and even her instruments. She’s that good–and that good-natured. Today, Deanna Bogart is an award-winning multi-instrumentalist musician whose fans value the diversity of her genre-free zone. With Deanna being a multi-instrumentalist, she is able to appeal to her audience in multiple ways. For 21 years, she has been recording and touring on the blues circuit, winning awards as a blues saxophonist, pianist, and singer. She established herself as a blues musician, and almost immediately began branching out into other styles. Deanna combines the best of boogie-woogie, contemporary blues, country and jazz into a splendid blend she calls “blusion.”  Deanna’s fusion of blusion — natural, stylish, fearless and fun — has garnered her three consecutive Blues Music Awards’ Horn Instrumentalist of the Year for 2008, 2009 and 2010 and an endorsement contract with Rico Reeds. She has won, at last count, more than 20 Wammies, the music awards for the hotly contested Washington, D.C. region. Pianoland, one of Deanna’s most popular albums along with Couldn’t Love You More has been described as some of her best studio work. For the first time, she left her tenor sax at home when she went to the recording studio. The songs cover a lot of ground, including some boogie-woogie and blues, but venturing widely into the kind of pop/jazz material that puts her into the same nameless category Bonnie Raitt has inhabited these past couple decades. It’s thoughtful music, seriously crafted, and completely enjoyable. “There are many people out there who dip their toes in as many stylistic waters as Bogart tries, but few who can carry their own voice with them no matter what… R&B, pop standards, jazz, boogie-woogie, country – it’s all grist for the mill of Bogart’s personal approach to music. Pianoland is a triumph of individual expression.”

Down Beat pays tribute to Deanna by claiming “…possesses a gift for approaching blues, soul and R&B material with warmth and firmness. Her originals here, in particular the beautifully sung, intelligent ballads, “Blue By Night” and “Tender Days,” sound as fresh as if she’d magically plucked them out of the air. ” For more info visit http://www.deannabogart.com/index.html If You Go
