Annapolis based Davy Dance Academy to perform at Orange Bowl

Davy DanceDavy Dance Academy announced that their Senior Dance Company will be featured in the half-time performance at the ACC Champion Discover Orange Bowl in Miami, Florida.  The performance will take place on New Year’s Eve in Miami, Florida.

Davy Dance Academy Dance Company is no stranger to performing on national television.  During the 2013-2014 season they performed in the Dunkin Donuts Thanksgiving Day Parade in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and the National Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington DC.  In September the dancers will perform in the Miss America Pageant Parade in Atlantic City, New Jersey.  In addition to performances on National Television, they perform within the community in service to others through the artistry of dance.  This past December, they raised over $1200 for The Lighthouse in Annapolis, Maryland.  Each year DDA Dance Company performs at local nursing homes during the holidays and holds a benefit concert to raise money for a local charity in need of support.

They are currently hosting several fundraisers to help their dancers raise money for performance and travel costs associated with performing in the Orange Bowl.  Some of the fundraisers include: raffle tickets for an iPad mini, candy sale, fruit sale and restaurant nights with local businesses.

Director, T. Michelle Davy holds a Masters in Administration and Supervision and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Dance from University of Maryland College Park. While in college and after graduating from University of Maryland College Park, she performed with Ailey II (ADF Festival), Bill T. Jones (ADF Festival), Alvin Mayes, Tony Powell, Meriam Rosen, Shane O’Hara, Mark Dendy, Anne Waren and Alcine Wiltz.  She has directed and choreographed over 25 musical in community theatre and private/public schools over the last 15 years.
