Once upon a time, there was a woman with a vision. The vision was an arts center in Severna Park. It was dreamt to be a multi-purpose, studio-ready center at the ready to offer classes and workshops to the community. And this vision was to be called The Artistic Flame!
This is the vision of Debra Soreff, and since she just turned 40, there was no better present than to move this project from vision into reality. But buildings don’t build themselves. So she sent out a letter….
Happy Birthday to me! Rather than dreading the big 4-0, I’m giving myself a present. I intend to see my long-time goal of a community arts center come to fruition. This will be a grassroots place with lots of one, two, and three day workshops. Everyone is busy these days and we want to offer classes that people can fit in there schedule, while learning new techniques.
If all goes as hoped, fellow artists and I will launch The Artistic Flame in Severna Park as a multipurpose, studio-ready art space. In its simplest form, The Artistic Flame will offer diverse art classes and workshops to our community members, artists and other like-minded spirits. But I don’t want this to be just about the art. My vision is a creative playground–an artist’s gallery, a co-op boutique where our talented artists can sell handmade gifts, community meeting space for meetings and music, and tons of opportunities for artists and art aficionados to connect, create, collaborate, and celebrate!
I teach because I love it. I love the energy shared with my students as creativity is unleashed. Can you imagine the force of energy that can be created if we have our own space committed to unbridling imagination and inventiveness in all its artistic forms?
…but in order to realize this dream, I need your help! Please, take a look at my Kickstarter fundraiser, make a donation, and share it with your friends and family. True, a lot goes into making this vision a reality, but the payoff will be immeasurable for our students, teachers, artists, and community members. I assure you that your donation will go a long way.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. I hope you can support me and then join us to connect and create in our new community center, The Artistic Flame.
