The Chairs for the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum’s 17th Annual Boating Party, Party on the Miles—Big Easy Style, have set the event’s date for Saturday, September 13, 2014.

The fundraising gala begins at 5:30 p.m. with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres along the museum’s waterfront, followed by a tented dinner catered by PeachBlossoms Events. The evening culminates with dancing under the stars to the Motown sounds of the XPDs.

“This year’s Boating Party commemorates the War of 1812’s final battle—The Battle of New Orleans—where General Andrew Jackson, aided by Privateer Jean Lafitte and his band of pirates, led the outnumbered Americans to victory,” commented event Co-Chair, Fred Israel. “The interesting thing is the Treaty of Ghent had been signed two weeks prior to the battle, but the news had not crossed the Atlantic yet.”

Israel and his wife, Lesley are co-chairing this year’s signature gala, which benefits the children and adults served through the museum’s educational, exhibit and boat restoration programs.

Boating Party tickets are now available at $200 per person or $2,000 for a table of 10, with benefactor and corporate sponsorships available. At the event, the museum will auction off a half-day cruise for 20 people aboard their newly restored 1955 skipjack, Rosie Parks. To reserve your table or tickets, or to place an absentee bid on the Rosie Parks cruise, call the museum’s VP of Constituent Services at 410-745-4950.
