The Annapolis Chorale, one of the region’s largest and most dynamic performing ensembles, will hold auditions for the 2014-2015 season in August. There are openings in all vocal sections but there is a particular need for tenors and basses. Singers should prepare a piece of their choice or they may sing part of “America the Beautiful.” An accompanist will be provided. To schedule an audition, call the Chorale office at 410-263-1906.   The coming season includes Carl Orff’s “Carmina Burana,” Anton Bruckner’s “Te Deum” and JS Bach’s “St. John Passion.”

The Annapolis Chorale is the premier performing ensemble presented by Live Arts Maryland and one of the most accomplished in the region. Internationally acclaimed Music Director J. Ernest Green celebrates his 30th year with the group this season. Under his leadership, the Chorale has grown in size, scope and performance quality and now has a national reputation for excellence. The approximately 170 volunteer singers in the group perform repertoire that includes opera (“Don Giovanni,” “Aida,” “Dido and Aeneas”); classical works by Brahms, Beethoven and Mozart and such 20th-century composers as Morten Lauridsen, Karl Jenkins, John Tavener, Benjamin Britten and Leonard Bernstein; Broadway classics including “The Sound of Music,” “Carousel,” “Guys & Dolls” and more. The Chorale rehearses Monday nights at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts. For details on the Chorale and the 2014-2015 season, visit www.liveartsmaryland.org.

Live Arts Maryland is one of the region’s largest and most active non-profit arts organizations dedicated to enhancing community life by performing and presenting high-quality music and providing music education for all ages. It is also home to the Annapolis Chamber Orchestra, the Annapolis Youth Chorus, the St. Anne’s Concert Series and is the local presenter of the Washington Symphonic Brass. Live Arts Maryland offers such music education programs that include a scholarship program for high-school music students. The Annapolis Chorale is a resident company of Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts and is supported by the Maryland State Arts Council, the Arts Council of Anne Arundel County and the City of Annapolis.
