Bogus utility employee robs Linthicum woman

robberyOn August 1, 2014 at approximately 10:47 a.m., officers from the Northern District responded to the 200 block of Hammonds Ferry Road in Linthicum for a reported Check Subject call.

Upon arrival, officers met with the victim, who advised she was approached by a Hispanic male. The male advised that he worked for a local water company and he was investigating a water leak. The male followed the victim into the house and checked several areas of the dwelling. After a few minutes, he left and the victim then realized she was missing some personal property.

There may have been another person involved who entered the dwelling while the homeowner was distracted but was not seen. Officers searched the area but did not locate the suspect.

Suspect: Hispanic/male/5’08”/ 220 pounds/wearing blue baseball style hat, blue shirt and tan pants.

This is the second incident in the last week with similar circumstances and suspect information.

All county citizens and residence should know that if a subject arrives at their home claiming to be an Anne Arundel County employee they should be able to provide identification. If the visit is not prearranged or is unscheduled don’t hesitate to contact the county agency that the county employee reports to be from. If this person’s presence causes you to be suspicious or uncomfortable dial 911 and ask for an officer to respond.
