Woman indicted in near-fatal bike accident last month

State’s Attorney Anne Colt Leitess announced today that 54-year-old Robin Vera Colbert was indicted on 11 counts in a near-fatal collision with two bicyclists near Annapolis last month.

Colbert, of Annapolis, is charged with two counts of Second-Degree Assault, Causing a Life-Threatening Injury While Under the Influence of Alcohol, Causing a Life-Threatening Injury While Impaired by Alcohol, Driving Under The Influence of Alcohol While Transporting a Minor, Driving While Impaired by Alcohol While Transporting a Minor, Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, Driving While Impaired by Alcohol, Reckless Driving and Negligent Driving.

Colbert struck Katie Pohler and Todd Green from behind with her Nissan on June 28 while they were bicycling in a marked and dedicated bike lane located on the shoulder of Route 450 near Annapolis. Ms. Pohler and Mr. Green were both flown to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore. Ms. Pohler suffered critical injuries and continues to recover. Mr. Green was treated and released.

Ms. Colbert was arrested on a warrant Wednesday afternoon.
