Navy football ranked 57th, predicted to play Poinsettia Bowl

The Navy football team is ranked 57^th out of 128 teams in the Football Bowl Subdivision by Athlon Sports in its college football preseason rankings.

Ohio State and Notre Dame are the only two Navy opponents ranked higher than the Mids.  Ohio State is ranked third and Notre Dame is ranked 13^th.  Rutgers is the next highest rated opponent at 73^rd, while South Alabama is 84^th and Western Kentucky is 92^nd.

Temple (100^th), San Jose State (103^rd), Air Force (105^th), Army (111^th), Texas State (113^th) and Georgia Southern (122^nd) round out Navy’s FBS opponents.  The Mids also play VMI of the FCS.

Athlon projects Navy to play Fresno State in the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl.

Navy kicks off the 2014 campaign on August 30th against national title contender Ohio State. The team reports for camp on Wednesday, July 30, the first practice is Thursday, July 31 and Media Day/Fan Fest is Saturday, August 2.
