A California man was indicted Friday for sexual solicitation of an Edgewater girl that he met online, State’s Attorney Anne Colt Leitess announced.
Murray Lee Chesak, 25, of Ontario, Calif., is charged with four counts of Sexual Solicitation of a Minor, Soliciting Child Pornography and Displaying Obscene Material to a Minor.
On March 10, 2014, a father reported to Anne Arundel County police he believed his 15-year-old daughter was communicating online with an adult from California. The father installed spyware on his daughter’s cellular phone and laptop computer and discovered she had been communicating with Mr. Chesak online. The father also discovered that Mr. Chesak had scheduled a trip from California and planned to meet his daughter in Annapolis.
Investigators contacted Mr. Chesak on April 3. He confirmed he had made reservations to fly to Maryland and stay at a hotel in Annapolis. He indicated he knew the girl’s age.
Mr. Chesak was extradited to Maryland on June 28 and remains held without bond at the Anne Arundel County Detention Center.
